Rasayana preparation for winter

An example of a winter Rasayana preparation

a regenerating and immunostimulating warm drink

Winter is the season that challenges the immune system to the max. The cold, lack of sunlight and a diet usually lower in essential nutrients can lead to a decrease in the body's immune resistance. That's why a warm, regenerating and immunostimulating hot drink can be the ideal ally to maintain our health during the cold months and promote natural regeneration processes.

Here's a recipe that combines natural ingredients, each with specific benefits to support the body's vigor. We briefly explain why each component plays an important role in this formula inspired by the ancient Ayurvedic tradition based on examples indicated in the specialized science of regeneration (Rasayana).

Ingredient:

  1. Spinach leaves (Spinacia oleracea L., fam. Amaranthaceae) - 12 grams (ingredient can also be used frozen). Spinach is an excellent source of iron, vitamin C, vitamin A and antioxidants. It helps fight oxidative stress, supports hemoglobin production and boosts immune function. Eating frozen spinach preserves its essential nutrients.
  2. Kale leaves (Brassica oleracea var. sabellica L., fam. Brassicaceae) - 12 grams (ingredient can also be used frozen). Kale, known as a superfood, is rich in vitamins K, C, and calcium. Thanks to its high antioxidant content, including flavonoids and carotenoids, it helps strengthen the immune system and reduce inflammation.
  3. Peppermint leaves (Mentha piperita L., fam. Lamiaceae) - 12 grams (ingredient can also be used frozen). Peppermint has soothing and invigorating properties and is ideal for stimulating digestion and adding freshness to your drink. The active compound menthol helps decongest the airways, an important benefit in winter.
  4. Pineapple fruit (Ananas comosus (L.) Merr., fam. Bromeliaceae) - 20 grams (fresh or frozen ingredient). Rich in vitamin C and bromelain, pineapple helps support the immune system and has anti-inflammatory properties. It is perfect for adding a sweet-sour and exotic touch to the drink.
  5. Mango fruit (Mangifera indica L., fam. Anacardiaceae) - 20 grams (fresh or frozen ingredient). Mango fruit is a rich source of vitamin A and antioxidants, which support skin and eye health. At the same time, its sweet, emollient and mild emollient flavor imparts a pleasant taste and balances the blend of ingredients.
  6. Ginger Root (Zingiber officinale Roscoe, fam. Zingiberaceae) - 1 gram (ingredient can be used as a dry powder) Ginger is recognized for its anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties. It helps stimulate blood circulation, relieves chills and helps soothe sore throats.
  7. Cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum J. Presl, fam. Lauraceae) - 1 gram (ingredient can be used as a dry powder). With a high antioxidant content and antimicrobial effects, cinnamon stimulates metabolism and helps maintain optimal body temperature on cold days.
  8. Licorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra L., fam. Fabaceae) - 2 grams (ingredient can be used as a dry powder). Licorice is known for its soothing effects on the respiratory tract and its ability to reduce inflammation. It is also a good ally in fighting respiratory infections.
  9. Vanilla syrup (Vanilla planifolia Jacks. ex Andrews, fam. Orchidaceae) - 3-5 grams (ingredient that can be used as syrup). This syrup adds a mild flavor and natural sweetness to the drink, balancing the spice flavors. Vanilla syrup adds a refreshing and aromatic note.
  10. Coconut (Cocos nucifera L., family Arecaceae) - 3-5 grams (ingredient that can be used in syrup form). This syrup adds coolness and subtle sweetness to the drink. Coconut syrup is a source of electrolytes and minerals that supports hydration.

Method of preparation:

  1. Add all frozen ingredients (spinach, kale, mint, pineapple, mango) to a blender.
  2. Sprrinkle the ginger, cinnamon and liquorice powders over them.
  3. Pour warm water over the mixture to soften the ingredients and activate the flavors.
  4. Stir for a short while until you get a smooth consistency.
  5. Add the syrup at the end for a nice, balanced taste.

General benefits:
