India Republic Day 2024

"The culture of a nation resides in the hearts and souls of its people." - Mahatma Gandhi

In a meaningful anniversary tradition, the Embassy of India in Bucharest has organised the Republic Day of India on 26 January 2024, marking the 75th anniversary of this special day. The event started with the hoisting of the Indian national flag ceremony by His Excellency Rahul Shrivastava, Ambassador of India to Bucharest, at the premises of the Embassy of India to Romania, Moldova and Albania from 10:00 am. This symbolic action opened the day of celebration of the Republic of India.

Other official events followed, illustrating and promoting the values and culture of India, while strengthening the ties of friendship and collaboration between the two countries. These events provided an opportunity for people from India and Romania to meet, exchange experiences and enrich their knowledge.

In the evening of the same day, starting at 18:30, the Embassy of India hosted a special reception at the Grand Hotel Bucharest, to which diplomatic and political personalities, members of the Romanian Academy, business leaders and, of course, friends and supporters of India in Romania were invited. This event provided an opportunity for participants to experience Indian culture in a festive setting and to strengthen relations between the two countries.

In his speech, the Ambassador spoke about major developments in India-Romania relations over the past year. The Chief Guest was Mr Traian Laurențiu Hristea, Secretary of State for Global Affairs and Diplomatic Strategy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania, who also addressed the guests. Guests were treated to Indian dances and a yoga demonstration.

The solid collaboration, activities and joint projects already carried out between the National Association for the Promotion of Non-Conventional Medicines in Romania - AMN-Romania and the Embassy of India have been recognized and appreciated, which led to invitations to members of AMN-Romania to join these special celebrations. This exemplary collaboration demonstrates the commitment of both parties to promote intercultural dialogue.
