A happy life

Three essential requirements for a happy life

The age-old science of life (Ayurveda) tells us that in order to achieve and maintain the best possible state of health and harmony, it is necessary for man to respect three fundamental requirements:

1. a healthy natural diet,

2. a proper regenerative rest,

3. full control over creative-sexual potential.

If these three essential vital requirements are consistently fulfilled, the human being can then achieve and maintain excellent health and thus live a long and happy life.

Just as a tripod cannot remain upright unless its three supporting legs are intact, so human health is based on the respect of these three essential vital requirements. This Ayurvedic view is very practical and is particularly useful to all human beings, regardless of age or gender, regardless of country or intellectual level.

Naturally, in order to maintain good health and to live a long and happy life, the wise man must always seek to know very well and at the same time to respect ALL these three essential requirements of a happy life. If only one of these requirements is neglected, it will tend to weaken our vigilance to observe the other two.

If we don't care what we eat, if we eat chaotically, anything and everything, without taking into account the principles of a healthy diet, afterwards, in a short time, we will find that even rest is no longer satisfying or we will see that we will not be able to have a peaceful sleep, or we will find that it is much more difficult to exercise control over our desires and sexual potential.

Similarly, if we don't get restful sleep or if we constantly neglect the need to rest when we need it, it will gradually lead to the deregulation of healthy eating habits and diminished ability to control sexual potential.

Also, every time the mental state of self-control alters, it makes us encounter difficulties in achieving sexual contentment and then, consequently we tend to face imbalances both in terms of healthy eating and proper rest.

It is therefore important to remember that if when we feel hungry (and if we know we have a healthy digestive system) we will eat in a balanced and natural way, or if after hard work (whether physical or mental) we will rest enough to regenerate, and also if we constantly seek to control our senses, while having a controlled and healthy sexual activity, all this will be a strong basis for us to achieve and maintain a perfect state of health for as long as possible.
