Charaka

Charaka is the author of the most important secret text of Ayurveda, known as "Charaka-samhita', which is also the oldest healing treatise in India. Charaka s-was born as the son of a great sage named Vishuddha and became an excellent healer for the common people, to whom he offered natural remedies, prepared by himself from various herbs.

The sage Charaka travelled almost all the time to different places to help people who were suffering and in need of help and that is why he became known as the "travelling healer" (Charaka). After the name of the sage Charaka were named charaka-and all those student practitioners of the age-old science of Ayurveda-they, who learned Ayurveda from an initiated Ayurvedic practitioner and then went on to perfect their Ayurvedic skills by moving around the world.periodically go to various other places for short periods of time to practice what they have learnt and at the same time to learn, by learning.and the others.

This ancient model of spiritual formation of students has been revived today. The sage Charaka offers us an example of a model state of compassionate skill and exemplary self-giving to all beings in distress.
