Ayurvedic tradition states that the Great God\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Indra<\/span>\u00a0is endowed with an unparalleled vigour and great power of beneficial action. In his honour\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Indra<\/span>in the sacred works of India, in\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">See<\/span>&#8211;<wbr \/>e, numerous hymns are dedicated, more than in honour of all the other gods except the Great God\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Agni<\/span>.<\/p><p class=\"Text2\">About the Great God\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Indra<\/span>\u00a0it is stated that it can take any form it wishes and that is why the Great God\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Indra<\/span>\u00a0numerous forms of manifestation and incarnations are attributed to it.<\/p><h2><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span class=\"C-16\">Traditional representation and description associated with the Great God\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"C-17\">Indra<\/span><\/span><\/h2><p class=\"Text2\">Traditionally, the Great God\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Indra<\/span>\u00a0is described as an exceptional being, appearing to have shiny, golden skin and extraordinarily long arms.\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Indra<\/span>\u00a0moves in<wbr \/>a shiny golden carriage, pulled by two black horses with their manes waving.\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Indra<\/span>\u00a0is depicted as having four hands, is armed with a thunderbolt (<span class=\"C-14\">vajra<\/span>), which he holds with one hand on his right side.\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Indra<\/span>\u00a0also has arrows, a large hook (<span class=\"C-14\">ankusha<\/span>) and a noose with which it defeats its opponents. The sacred writings of India (<span class=\"C-14\">purana<\/span>&#8211;<wbr \/>them) describe\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Indra<\/span>\u00a0as a young man, sometimes riding a white horse or sometimes an elephant, carrying a lightning bolt in his right hand.<\/p><p class=\"Text2\">Forever young,\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Indra<\/span>\u00a0is the celestial being that embodies the virtues of youth, heroism, as well as the manifestation of the state of divine generosity and exuberance that is exhilarating and life-giving. Sometimes in traditional representations,\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Indra<\/span>\u00a0is described as having a chest and arms marked with a lot of eyes (<span class=\"C-14\">akshi<\/span>), thus being nicknamed\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Sahasraksha<\/span>, an expression which means \"<span class=\"C-14\">He who is endowed with a thousand eyes<\/span>&#8220;.\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Indra<\/span>\u00a0is also described in Eastern tradition as one of the youngest gods, and is sometimes called\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Kanina<\/span>, a word that means \"<span class=\"C-14\">He who is born ever young<\/span>\", \"<span class=\"C-14\">The one full of youth<\/span>\", \"<span class=\"C-14\">Smallest<\/span>\" or \"<span class=\"C-14\">The Mezin<\/span>&#8220;.\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Indra<\/span>\u00a0is suggestively described as an exceptional being who is the embodiment of vigour and youth, a state which\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Indra<\/span>\u00a0and-<wbr \/>maintains it by always using the celestial drink of the gods (<span class=\"C-14\">soma<\/span>).<\/p><h2><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span class=\"C-16\">The Great God\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"C-18\">Indra<\/span><span class=\"C-16\">\u00a0in the Ayurvedic tradition<\/span><\/span><\/h2><p class=\"Text2\">The transmission of the sacred science of Ayurveda to humans was mediated by the Great God\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Indra<\/span>.\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Indra<\/span>\u00a0is the one who revealed to humans the immortal Sacred Science of Life (Ayurveda), a fact mentioned since the very first\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">sutra<\/span>&#8211;<wbr \/>of the well-known Ayurveda work\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Charaka-<wbr \/>Samhita<\/span>. In this context,\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Indra<\/span>\u00a0is mentioned as the one who received the secret teaching of Ayurveda from the two famous vintners,\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Ashvinii<\/span>.\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Indra<\/span>\u00a0is the keeper of the priceless treasury of knowledge of the Science of Life and that is why\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Indra<\/span>\u00a0is the one who, when fervently called upon, responds with great goodwill, thus offering his godly support.<\/p><p class=\"Text2\">The work of Ayurveda\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Charaka-<wbr \/>Samhita<\/span>\u00a0states about\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Indra<\/span>\u00a0that it is \"<span class=\"C-14\">The saviour of suffering human beings<\/span>\". That's why,\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Indra<\/span>\u00a0is called upon by sages longing for long life to reveal to them the secret knowledge of Ayurveda, which until then had been accessible only to celestial beings.<\/p><p class=\"Text2\">About the Great God\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Indra<\/span>\u00a0is said to have performed many exceptional healings, such as: suturing fractured necks without any hemorrhage, curing extreme devitalization and consumptive conditions affecting those suffering from serious disorders such as tuberculosis (<span class=\"C-14\">rajayakshma<\/span>), hair regeneration in cases of baldness, as well as healing many other diseases.<\/p><p class=\"Text2\">About\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Indra<\/span>\u00a0is said to have performed many miraculous healings, providing exceptional support in healing human beings to whom\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Rig-<wbr \/>See<\/span>\u00a0and points to their names, namely: restored the sight of\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Paravrija<\/span>, l-<wbr \/>helped\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Chair<\/span>\u00a0regain the ability to walk and l-<wbr \/>cured\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Apala<\/span>\u00a0of a severe skin disease.<\/p><p class=\"Text2 C-14\">Rig-<wbr \/>See<span class=\"C-19\">\u00a0also makes special mention of the extraordinary skill of\u00a0<\/span>Indra<span class=\"C-19\">\u00a0in surgical therapeutic interventions and in the treatment of serious cases of scorpion or snake bites.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"Text2\">In the paper entitled\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Ayurveda-<wbr \/>Vijnana<\/span>,\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Indra<\/span>\u00a0is described as a great expert in the rapid and effective treatment of psycho-<wbr \/>mental, for the cure of which\u00a0<span class=\"C-14\">Indra<\/span>\u00a0applies a multitude of natural therapeutic herbal formulas with healing effects on the psyche and mind.
